Wanted Japanese scammer deported - BI
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 17) — A 26-year-old Japanese woman wanted for theft and financial fraud in Japan was deported to her country on Friday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.
On Sept. 15, 2022, the Tokyo Summary Court issued a warrant for the arrest of Risa Yamada for theft, the BI said.
Yamada and several others posed as police officers and bank employees to steal bank card data. The BI said its fugitive search unit arrested her in Pasay City on Jan. 9.
The Japanese government tagged Yamada as a fugitive from justice, and canceled her passport.
She is on the BI blacklist which bans her from re-entering the country.
