Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 13) — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) advised passengers that train operations of LRT-2 will be suspended for most of Holy Week.

In an advisory posted on their Facebook page on Monday, the LRTA said apart from the four-day suspension of operations starting Maundy Thursday, there will also be a shortened schedule on Holy Wednesday.

"On April 5, the shortened operating schedule will be at 7:00 p.m. only for both routes bound for Recto and Antipolo," said the LRTA.

LRTA administrator Hernando Cabrera said the suspension of operations will allow the LRTA to thoroughly check trains, facilities and equipment to ensure all are in working order.

"We normally take advantage of the Holy Week to perform our yearly maintenance activities. With this, we appeal for understanding from the riding public and request that they plan their trip and take alternative transportation during this period," he said.
