Biden honors Filipino Americans on history month
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 3) — United States President Joe Biden expressed his gratitude to the Filipino American community on Tuesday, as October marks Filipino American History Month in the US.
"To our Filipino American community: Thank you for all you do to ensure our nation continues to be the land of opportunity," Biden said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The US president also honored "the rich heritage and traditions of millions of Filipino Americans."
On Sunday, the White House joined in the celebration, stressing that Filipino Americans "have helped forge the very idea of America."
"This Filipino American History Month, the Biden-Harris Administration is proud to honor generations of Filipino Americans who have ensured our nation remains a land of hope, opportunity, and optimism," it said.
Data from the US showed in February that there were over four million Filipino Americans living there.
