Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 25) — Authorities have arrested a suspect in the 2000 killing of publicist Bubby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.

The accused, former police officer William Reed, was nabbed in an operation on Jan. 22 in Bulacan, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Wednesday.

According to the NCRPO, the suspect has a pending arrest warrant since 2001 in connection with the double murder case.

No bail was recommended.

Reed — who's also part of the police's most wanted list — is currently detained at a facility of the Regional Special Operations Group, the NCRPO added.

Dacer was the publicist of former President Joseph Estrada. He and Corbito were abducted in November 2000, with their charred remains found months later.

Former Philippine National Police chief Panfilo Lacson was among the accused in the case, but was cleared by the court in 2011.
