Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 17) — Crediting of benefits and pensions of some Social Security System (SSS) members will be delayed amid ongoing repairs after the recent fire that razed its central office in Quezon City, the state-run insurer announced on Friday.

SSS advised that benefit proceeds and pensions processed from Aug. 25, 2022, onwards will be delayed amid the restoration of the connectivity between its servers and disbursement banks.

“The SSS is asking for patience and understanding for this current situation while all concerted and immediate efforts are being made to restore the crediting back to normal operations,” the agency said in an advisory.

Meanwhile, the crediting of pensions for the first batch of September 2022 had already been processed by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) while SSS expects the bank to credit the second batch of pensions starting at 4 p.m. on Sept. 16.

The bank, which serves as the disbursement facility that credits the monthly pensions, earlier encountered a technical error while processing the second batch of pensions.

“Online filing through the My.SSS portal is now in full operation effective Sept. 1, 2022," the agency advised. "Members can already submit their benefit claims applications using the said portal.”

SSS earlier assured members that the fire on Aug. 28 did not affect any data records and that the delivery of its services in all branches and digital platforms would not be interrupted.

The fire’s damage to property was estimated at ₱700,000.
