Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 5) — The country recorded at least 104 additional cases of Omicron subvariants BA.5, BA.4, and BA.2.12.1 based on the latest genome sequencing, the Department of Health reported on Friday.

In a press briefing, DOH Officer-in-Charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire said there were 95 new BA.5 cases. Sixty-seven of them are from Davao Region, 25 from Soccsksargen, and one each from Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the National Capital Region.

The DOH added that 83 of the new BA.5 cases are now tagged as recovered, five are still isolating, while the status of the seven others is still being verified.

Seven more individuals also tested positive for the BA.4. Of these, five are from Soccsksargen and two from Davao Region, the DOH said.

But the DOH noted that all of the seven BA.4 cases have already recovered.

Meanwhile, two additional BA.2.12.1 cases have been recorded from Davao Region. The DOH said that both have also recovered.

The agency said the exposure and travel histories of the newly detected cases of Omicron subvariants are still being verified.
