Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 13)— The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila stood at 17.9% as of Aug. 11, the OCTA Research Group said Saturday, as it noted a “slight” rise in the past days.

In a social media post, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said it remains unclear whether the capital region’s positivity rate — which refers to the percentage of tested people with positive results — has already reached its peak.

“With slight increases over the past three days, it is not yet clear if the positivity rate has already peaked in the NCR, but the trendline looks flat at the moment,” David wrote on Twitter.

The World Health Organization has set a positivity rate benchmark of below 5%.

The independent COVID-19 watchdog earlier projected that cases in Metro Manila may peak by next week, citing decreases in several indicators.

The region remains at moderate risk for COVID-19, according to the Department of Health.
