Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 12) — The Department of Health on Friday reported 225 additional cases of Omicron subvariants in the country based on the latest sequencing run.

In a press briefing, Department of Health Officer-in-Charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire said there were 190 new BA.5 cases, 34 more BA.4 infections, and one additional BA.2.12.1 patient.

Of the new BA.5 cases, 162 were from Davao Region, 23 from Soccsksargen, three from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and one each from Caraga and National Capital Region.

The DOH said that 175 of them are now tagged as recovered, seven are still isolating, while the outcome of eight others is still being verified.

Meanwhile, out of the additional BA.4 infections, 23 are from Soccsksargen and 11 from Davao Region.

Thirty-three of the BA.4 cases have already recovered, while authorities are still verifying the status of one patient.

The one new BA.2.12.1 patient was from Davao Region and has already recovered, the DOH said.

The DOH said the exposure and travel histories of the newly detected cases of Omicron subvariants are still being verified.
