Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 3) — British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils has advised Filipinos to apply for United Kingdom visa at least six weeks before travel as its release is taking longer due to high demand and backlogs.

“Visas are taking longer than normal due to high global demand & backlogs. We're very sorry about that. We want to see Filipinos in [UK],” she tweeted Saturday. “But at this time, please apply with at least six weeks before travel.”

Beaufils also shared a link to the video of UK High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott who was explaining the reasons for the late release of visas

“The first is there’s a huge backlog as a result of visa application during COVID-19, that weren’t processed,” Marriott explained.

“The various global issues and crisis that are going off at the moment, but also an unprecedented demand for visas,” she added.

Marriott assured that backlogs are being processed as quickly as possible.
