Comelec urges voters to register early for Barangay, SK elections
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 3) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls will start on Monday.
The poll body said voter registration will run until July 23, from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Barangay and SK elections are scheduled for Dec. 5.
The Comelec said Filipinos who are at least 15 years old on or before the elections, but not more than 30 years of age can register for the SK elections. They also need to have resided in the barangay for not less than six months.
Filipinos who are at least 18 years of age on or before Dec. 5 and a resident of the Philippines for at least one year may also register and participate as regular voters. The rules also require a residency of at least six months in the barangay where they intend to vote.
"Dahil po maikli lang ang panahon ng pagrehistro para makatupad ang Comelec sa mga batas at alituntunin ng halalan, hinihiling namin na huwag ng hintayin ang mga huling araw ng pagpapatala para makaseguro ang pagrehistro," it said.
