Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 11) — The number of dengue cases in the country from January 1 to June 25 is 90% more than what was recorded in the same period last year, the Department of Health said Monday.

That is a jump from 34,074 in 2021 to 64,797 in 2022, according to latest DOH data.

The department also noted that most of the cases were from Central Luzon (9,426), Central Visayas (7,741), and Zamboanga Peninsula (5,684.)

During the period of May 29 to June 25, DOH said 21,115 cases were recorded. Central Luzon still accounted for most of the patients with 3,902, followed by Central Visayas (2,316), and National Capital Region (1,997.)

DOH also noted 274 deaths have been reported until June.

The agency has been reminding the public to follow the 4S strategy: search and destroy breeding places, secure self-protection, seek early consultation, and support fogging/spraying in hotspot areas.
