Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 29) – The Supreme Court temporarily halted the substitution bid of P3PWD Partylist nominee and former Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon.

The top court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Wednesday, in response to the petition filed by Duterte Youth Partylist Rep. Ducielle Marie Cardema and his husband Ronald, the organization’s chairman.

The Duterte Youth Partylist petition assailed the Comelec resolution which allowed Guanzon to substitute as the P3PWD Partylist nominee.

All of P3WPD Partylist’s five original nominees resigned and submitted to the poll body a new set of names that included Guanzon. The group secured one seat in the upcoming 19th Congress.

The high court asked Guanzon and the Comelec to comment on the petition within 10 days from notice.

“Will file comment in 10 days as ordered. I have filed my Certificate of Proclamation in the House of Representatives last Monday,” Guanzon said in a message to CNN Philippines.

Comelec spokesperson Atty. Rex Laudiangco confirmed the poll body’s clerk received a copy of the TRO.
