Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 29)— President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed outgoing Solicitor General Jose Calida as the next Commission on Audit (COA) chairman.

This was confirmed by Marcos’ press secretary-designate Trixie Cruz-Angeles in a briefing on Wednesday.

Prior to his role in the Duterte administration, Calida had served as the Undersecretary of the Department of Justice from 2001 to 2004.

He also previously held the Executive Director post at the Dangerous Drugs Board.

Marcos’ camp also confirmed the appointment of Jose Arnulfo "Wick" Veloso as president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Veloso is the president and CEO of the Philippine National Bank, and also served as president of the Bankers Association of the Philippines.

The incoming GSIS chief welcomed Marcos’ offer, saying it would be an honor to serve under the incoming administration.

“It is a privilege for me to be of service to the GSIS, its stakeholders and the nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the other vital Cabinet positions that have yet to be filled, Cruz-Angeles said they are still under review.

“Dahil nga sinasabi niyo, mahalaga ‘yung mga position na ito, hindi ito pwede madaliin, ‘yung proseso,” Cruz-Angeles told reporters.
