Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 23)— Heads up! Voter registration will resume on July 4 to July 23, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Thursday.

This comes as the poll body begins preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls scheduled in December.

Acting Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco earlier confirmed the en banc's approval of the registration dates and cited a policy under Republic Act No. 8189, wherein voter registration shall be prohibited 120 days prior to elections.

“Madami po kasing post-registration activities and requirements na kailangan bigyan ng sapat na oras,” he said.

During an interview with CNN Philippines' Newsroom Ngayon on Friday, the Comelec official said the registration schedule at their offices is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Ang application forms po para sa registration, kasama na po dito yung transfer ng voter registration, reactivation, change or correction of entries, pati po yung reinstatement, kung mga natanggal sa listahan, ay downloadable po ito sa website ng Commission on Elections,," he said. "Ang pareho din pong forms ay available sa lahat po ng tanggapan ng Comelec sa inyo pong mga siyudad, munisipyo, at probinsya. Libre po itong ipinamimigay."

Laudiangco also urged those who will register to accomplish the application forms before going to their offices, come early and within the schedule.

Who can register?

The Comelec said minors aged 15-17 years old on or before December 5 may register for the upcoming SK and barangay polls. It added that it is also open to adults aged 18 and above.

"Ang makakaboto po sa SK elections ay yung mga nasa edad na 15 hanggang 30 years old. 'Yung makakaboto naman po sa barangay elections or regular na barangay elections ay yung nasa edad na 18 and above," Laudiangco explained. "So meron pong 18 years old to 30 years old na makakaboto po sa dalawa: SK and at the same time, sa regular na barangay election."

The last Barangay and SK elections were held in May 2018.

The commission also noted that those who will register during the period will already be included to the national list of registered voters and will not need to register again for the 2025 midterm polls.
