NCRPO, MMDA announce road closures, traffic rerouting during Marcos inauguration
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 18) — The National Capital Region Police Office and the Metropolitan Development Authority have heightened their preparation for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 30, announcing the closure of some roads to control and smoothen traffic flow.
"We expect that heavy traffic will be…mangyayari do'n sa lugar, lalong-lalo pa 'yung lugar kung saan malapit do'n sa venue kaya naman ina-advise natin 'yung mga kababayan natin na may road closures," NCRPO spokesperson PLtCol. Jenny Tecson said in a public briefing.
[Translation: We expect heavy traffic will happen in the vicinity, especially in areas near the venue. That's why we are advising the public that there will be road closures.]
According to MMDA, the following roads will be closed in the following days:
June 26, 12:01 a.m. to June 30, 11 p.m.
Padre Burgos Avenue
Finance Road
Ma. Orosa Street - from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos
General Luna Street - from P. Burgos to Muralla Street
June 29, 12:01 a.m. to June 30, 11 p.m.
Mendiola Street
June 30
4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Ayala Boulevard
Victoria Street - from Taft Avenue to Muralla Street
1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Jalandoni Street, PICC, Pasay City
Legarda Street - from San Rafael to Figueras Street
With the road closures, the NCRPO added that the traffic bureau of the City of Manila will implement traffic rerouting for motorists to take:
-vehicles coming from McArthur, Jones, and Quezon bridges can take Taft Avenue or Kalaw Avenue to point of destination
-vehicles coming from Mel Lopez Boulevard intending to utilize P. Burgos Avenue shall use Roxas Boulevard or Kalaw Avenue to point of destination
-vehicles coming from P. Casal Street intending to use Ayala Boulevard shall turn right on C. Palanca Street to point of destination
-vehicles coming from UN Avenue intending to utilize Ayala Boulevard via Romualdez Street shall go straight to Taft Avenue to point of destination
-vehicles coming from Taft Avenue shall use Ayala Boulevard then go straight to Lawton to point of destination
Meanwhile, trailer trucks and heavy vehicles coming from Del Pan Bridge shall take a U-Turn to Anda Circle to the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard to C3 then to point of destination.
Tecson said that those coming from President Quirino Avenue shall go straight to Nagtahan Bridge to Lacson Avenue to point of destination.
"'Yung mga nabanggit po ay ipa-publish naman po 'yan one week before the activity," Tecson noted.
