Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 25) — Lawyer-turned-vlogger and radio commentator Trixie Cruz-Angeles will be appointed secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, said the spokesperson of presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday.

Vic Rodriguez said Cruz-Angeles accepted the nomination, adding that her role will be limited to a "talking head" during media briefings.

Cruz-Angeles was previously part of PCOO from July 2017 to 2018 as a social media strategist.

She is now a radio host of 'Karambola,' a program in radio station DWIZ. She jointly manages the 'Luminous' social media pages, which regularly posts content praising President Rodrigo Duterte and criticizing Vice President Leni Robredo.

In 2016, the Supreme Court suspended her for three years for violating the lawyer's code of conduct.

Cruz-Angeles likely taking the PCOO post comes at a time when the media that covered the Marcos campaign criticized the presumptive president for supposedly shunning interviews, while Rodriguez was called out by by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines for supposedly ignoring questions from a reporter and called it "a red flag for press freedom."
