Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 25) — Mindanaoan candidate Faisal Mangondato topped the presidential race in his home province of Lanao del Sur, including the results from the special polls held in the municipality of Tubaran on Tuesday.

The official tabulation conducted by the National Board of Canvassers on Wednesday showed he received over 180,000 votes, compared to the 145,000 votes garnered by presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

In the special elections held in Tubaran, he also led the race with 2,040 votes compared to Marcos' 921 votes.

Mangondato, who ranked 6th in the presidential race based on the unofficial count, won in Tubaran alongside Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as vice president. Yaz Papandayan led the mayoral race according to the record from the Commission on Elections.

Twelve barangays in Tubaran held special polls after failure of elections was declared due to violence on May 9.

Meanwhile, Marcos and Duterte are set to be proclaimed on Wednesday by the Congress as the next president and vice president.
