Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 16) — The Commission on Elections will proclaim the 12 senators-elect on Wednesday and party-lists "with guaranteed seats" on Thursday, an official said Monday.

In a briefing, acting Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco says the proclamations will be held at 4 p.m. on both days. The winning senatorial candidates will be proclaimed without any ranking, as the Commission awaits results from the special elections in some Lanao del Sur barangays.

Each senator-elect can bring up to five companions — up from the initial three — including their relatives and documentation staff. Winning party-lists, meanwhile, can be represented by two individuals.

Laudiangco reminded that the ceremonies are “formal,” adding that attendees are expected to cooperate like they have done before. For one, they must present their vaccination cards before entering the PICC Forum Tent.

The law says party-lists which garner at least 2% of total votes are guaranteed at least one seat in Congress. Those with more than 2% will get additional seats in proportion to the total number of votes.

However, only ACT-CIS, 1-Rider, Tingog, 4Ps, Ako Bicol, and Sagip have breached the over 2% threshold based on Comelec’s partial, official tally as of May 15.

Those next in line will be given one party-list seat each until all 63 seats are occupied.
