COA orders Senate to settle unpaid rental fee with SSS
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 8) —The Commission on Audit has ordered the Senate to settle a rate differential fee it owes the Security Social System amounting to over ₱325,000.
This is for the lease of a 15,000-square meter parcel of land in Pasay City from May to December 2014.
In a decision issued in January and recently posted on its website, COA said the money claim filed by the SSS is meritorious.
It said both parties had agreed on a higher rental rate covering that period which had been approved by the Social Security Commission.
“The Senate acknowledged its obligation to pay the rental rate differential of ₱325,200. In fact the only reason why the Senate had not paid the differential was because it was considered as prior year’s unbooked obligation of the agency,” COA said.
