Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 4) — The Light Rail Transit Authority’s (LRTA) Libreng Sakay program for students will end on Nov. 5, but student passengers could still avail of 20% discounts, the transport agency reminded the public on Thursday.

According to LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera, a total of 1,527,219 students who rode LRT line 2 from Santolan to Recto Avenue benefited from the program.

He said the program, which began on Aug. 22, hit its one million mark in student passengers in 58 days.

The initiative was implemented to aid students who were struggling financially due to the impact of the pandemic and amid the rising prices.

Starting Nov. 6, students can avail of their discounted fees provided they show school identification cards or proof of enrollment to the station’s Passenger Assistance Office or ticket booth.
