Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 23) — Several food products commonly bought during the Christmas season are now sold at higher prices, data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) showed.

The DTI on Wednesday said it recorded price hikes in at least 12 Noche Buena items, including ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, keso de bola, mayonnaise, sandwich spread, pasta, elbow macaroni, salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and creamer.

Based on DTI figures, the suggested retail prices of 195 out of 223 shelf keeping units (SKUs) are now more expensive.

Nearly a hundred SKUs saw a price increase of more than 10%. Fifty-one items went up by 6% to 10%, while 50 items by 1% to 5%.

Meanwhile, the DTI also released a new guide showing the suggested retail prices for these items to assist consumers in making informed purchases.
