Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 8) — Hospitals could soon get payments due them after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth to expedite valid claims.

A statement from Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Thursday confirmed this.

In turn, PhilHealth approved the application of a Debit-Credit Payment Method to facilitate the settlement of accounts payable to health care facilities during the pandemic.

Eligible facilities must be located in IATF and NTF identified regions, Roque said.

"These HCFs must likewise have no Interim Reimbursement Mechanism Fund balance on record. They must be attending to COVID-19 patients or providing the SARS-COV-2 testing package and their accreditation is not suspended during the applicable period," the statement added.

The issue of DCPM was among the topics discussed during a Cabinet meeting earlier in the day.

"The application of Debit Credit Payment Method (DCPM) of public and private hospitals in identified areas of concern, which is around P9.7-B, is already in place," Roque said.

However, no other details regarding the payment method have been revealed.
