Metro Manila (CNN Philippines November 30) — Senatorial aspirant Greco Belgica will support the reimposition of death penalty for all heinous crimes, including corruption, if he wins a Senate seat in the 2022 elections.

"I will bring a stronger anti-corruption campaign in the Senate and make sure na lahat ng ini-imbestigahan natin ay nakukulong at napaparusahan. Kung pagpapalain ng Diyos, ibabalik po natin ang parusang kamatayan sa karumaldumal na krimen at korapsyon," he told CNN Philippines' The Final Word.

[Translation: I will bring a stronger anti-corruption campaign in the Senate and make sure all those being investigated will be imprisoned and held accountable. If God will permit, we will reimpose death penalty on heinous crimes and corruption.]

The former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chief also said there is a need to "cure the law" since existing measures restrict what authorities can do to hold people involved in illegal drugs and corruption accountable.

"For people who get involved in drugs, who get involved in corruption, the law should not apply to them. Ito pong (This) Bank Secrecy Law should not apply to them because they are a threat to national security, they're criminals," Belgica pointed out.

On the war on drugs, he said the current approach of the Duterte administration should be continued - coupled with the establishment of an anti-drug abuse council and anti-drug board.
