Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 22) — There are presently four buses with left-passenger doors plying EDSA and more is expected to be deployed, according to a Transportation official.

This will accommodate commuters in line with the loading and unloading bus stops along EDSA.

Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark Pastor said in a CNN Philippines interview on Saturday that this is internationally accepted and around 15 to 30 more of the same buses will be dispatched in September.

“Na-accept na po ng ating mga kababayan na hindi naman tatamaan ang ating kaligtasan,” Pastor said.

[Translation: Filipinos have already accepted it and it is safe for everyone.]

He added that the DOTr, through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), has released a memorandum that requires operators to conduct regular RT-PCR testing to its drivers and conductors.

DOTr has also recently required commuters to wear face shields while riding any kind of public transportation.
