Tropical depression ‘Butchoy’ maintains strength as it moves towards Pampanga-Tarlac area

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 11) — Tropical depression Butchoy is now moving toward the areas of Pampanga and Tarlac, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (PAGASA).

According to the 11 p.m. weather update on Thursday, the center of Butchoy was last seen in the vicinity of Baliuag, Bulacan at 10 p.m.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and a gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Butchoy made landfall over Polillo and Infanta in Quezon at 7 p.m.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 was lifted over some municipalities in Quezon.

Meanwhile, the following areas are still under Signal #1: Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, the southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan, San Luis), Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, and the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Panukulan, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, Jomalig).

PAGASA said Butchoy will continue to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, and Occidental Mindoro. It will be light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and the rest of Luzon, between Thursday night and Friday noon, it also said.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains will prevail between Friday noon until evening over Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Mindoro Provinces, and northern portion of Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo Islands. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will hover over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Panay Island, and the rest of MIMAROPA, Ilocos Region, and Central Luzon.
