Pasig City Children's Hospital designated as COVID-19 referral facility
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 8)— The Pasig City Children's Hospital has been converted into a COVID-19 referral facility, Mayor Vico Sotto confirmed.
"Public and private hospital systems are nearing saturation point," Sotto said of the move Tuesday.
Sotto said the current COVID unit of the Pasig City General Hospital will be transferred to the said center, while the pediatric services of PCCH will in turn move to PCGH. Additional health workers will also be hired following the move, the mayor added.
The referral center can accommodate up to 90 patients.
As of Tuesday, Pasig City has recorded 140 positive cases of the highly-contagious disease, with 28 recoveries and 22 fatalities.
The Health Department also earlier designated the Philippine General Hospital in Manila, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City, and a wing of the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City as COVID-exclusive medical facilities.
