Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6)— Senator Sonny Angara on Monday said he has recovered from COVID-19 and has already been discharged from the hospital.

Angara confirmed the development through his social media accounts, saying he was back home after testing negative for the virus.

"After several days in the ER and the COVID wing my doctors finally sent me home today— negative for the virus and pneumonia free," Angara said.

The lawmaker also took to social media to thank the doctors and other health frontliners who assisted him in his COVID-19 journey.

"I met nurses and doctors who don't go home anymore, some even doing double duty in other hospitals. They truly truly are real heroes," he added.

Angara first announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on March 26. He had been on home quarantine but moved to a hospital days after.

He is also the third senator confirmed with COVID-19 following Miguel Zubiri and Koko Pimentel.
