Meralco rates up slightly in March
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 6)— After two straight months of cheaper power rates, customers of power distributor Manila Electric Company (Meralco) will pay more in March due to higher generation charges.
Meralco on Friday announced rates rose to ₱8.8901 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month from ₱8.8623 per kWh in February.
This translates to a roughly ₱6 increase in the total bill of a typical household consuming 200 kWh.
The company attributed the increase to higher generation charges.
Meralco's franchise area covers Metro Manila, the provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, and Cavite, as well as parts of Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and Pampanga.
