Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29)— The mayor of Taytay in Rizal province has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a video posted Sunday on his Facebook account, Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula said he has been diagnosed with a "mild" case of the infectious disease.

Gacula said he experienced an itchy throat, slight fever, and colds over the past week, but has been asymptomatic since Friday. He is currently under self-quarantine.

The town mayor joins the list of local government officials who have tested positive for COVID-19— which include officials from Cavite and La Union.

Nationally, COVID-19 has infected 1418 individuals. Of this number, 71 have died, while 42 recovered.
