Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 25) — A governor of a province east of Metro Manila tested positive for COVID-19, her son said Wednesday.

His mother is Governor Rebecca “Nini” Ynares

[Translation: We think that Governor Nini got the virus because she continued to go around the province and face our residents. She didn't stop seeing other residents of the province because this is part of her job.]

Junjun said his mother is on quarantine and in stable condition. Her husband, former Rizal Governor Casimiro “Ito” Ynares is also under quarantine.

The incumbent mayor of Antipolo and Jun’s wife, Andeng Ynares, were also among those who had interactions with the Rizal governor.

He added that their family thought it best to disclose the status of their mother so that they can advise everyone who may have interacted with the governor in the past two weeks to self-quarantine or have themselves checked by a doctor if any symptoms show up.

Nationwide, 636 people have acquired COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Thirty-eight of them have died, while 26 have recovered.
