Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 22) — Joint Task Force COVID Shield has a new commander in PLtGen Cesar Binag.

This was revealed by PLtGen Guillermo Eleazar on Sunday. Eleazar was commander of the task force until he took on his new role as commander of the Philippine National Police Admin Support to COVID Operations Task Force on November 17.

In a message, Eleazar said he was proud to have served with the JTF and asked that the same support be extended to Binag.

The PNP defines the task force as the "enforcement arm" of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease in the implemention of quarantine rules and protocols.

The task force is made up of members of the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Bureau of Fire Protection.
