Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 22) — Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director Isidro Lapeña has tested positive for COVID-19, he revealed Saturday.

In a statement, Lapeña bared that he had been notified about the result of the swab test that he took on Friday.

"I had my PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test taken [on Friday] and the result I received stated that I am positive of COVID-19."

Lapeña, who was at the Senate on Wedneday to attend a hearing on TESDA's proposed 2021 budget, said that he was "fine" and was not experiencing any symptoms.

"Those who came in close contact with me are advised to also go on isolation in accordance with health protocol," he added.

On Saturday, Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa also revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, making him the fifth senator to be infected with the viral disease.

Dela Rosa's colleagues Miguel Zubiri, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, Sonny Angara, and Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. have already recovered.
