Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 21) — The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge is on track to be completed in early 2021 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Embassy said.

The Chinese contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation has made efforts to ensure that the P1.46 billion project will be completed on time, the embassy said.

“China stands ready to further synergize the Belt and Road Initiative and Build, Build, Build program and accelerate the implementation of cooperation projects to stimulate economic recovery and growth of the Philippines,” it said.

The China-funded project that connects the cities of Makati and Mandaluyong spans more than 500 meters and will have four lanes, from previously two. This will be able to accommodate around 50,000 vehicles per day and is expected to ease heavy traffic along EDSA once completed.
