Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 4) – The country has its first representative in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena qualified for the Olympics after clearing 5.81 meters in an athletics meet in Italy on Tuesday night, according to athletics chief Philip Ella Juico.

Obiena eclipsed his previous best of 5.76 meters, a record he set in the 2019 Summer Universiade also in Italy back in July.

This is a developing story.
