3 suspected ISIS members arrested in Parañaque, Rizal

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines Staff, May 10) — Authorities said three alleged members of terrorist group ISIS were nabbed in Parañaque City and Rizal province.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said it arrested Friday dawn Narodin Abolkhair Manalinding and Cairo Gen Manatao Abolkhair in Parañaque for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

Authorities sad Manalinding and Abolkhair are from Marawi City, which was attacked by terrorists close to two years ago. Manalinding is said to be a financier and recruiter for ISIS-Daulah Islamiyah Ranao.

The CIDG confiscated from the pair a fragmentation grenade, an unregistered 9mm pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, various ammunitions and a black tactical bag.

Police also arrested another ISIS member identified as Tagoranao Dimaro Sarip Jr. in Cainta, Rizal just hours after the arrest of Manalinding and Abolkhair.

Sarip, who is allegedly the propaganda and member of ISIS’ media cell, was arrested following a search authorized by a Laguna judge.

Authorities confiscated from him a hand grenade, an unregistered .45 caliber pistol and ammunition, a black flag believed to be an ISIS flag, a plastic box and a black sling bag.

Sarip will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Law on Explosives.

Last month, police arrested two alleged Abu Sayyaf members in Quezon City and Muntinlupa. The latter was working as a security guard for an office building
