Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 26) – The National Capital Region Police is investigating the reported disappearance of nine young people in Pasay City, acting NCRPO Chief PBGen. Debold Sinas said Tuesday.

He said they are now validating the reports and checking the background of the missing individuals who have supposedly gone missing from November 20 to 22.

“Kino-confirm pa, pina-follow-up pa, sinisigurado kung nawala talaga, ano ang cause?” Sinas said.

[Translation: We are still confirming, following up, and investigating the probable cause if they were indeed missing.]

The Pasay police earlier reported that the missing youths comprise eight men and a woman aged 18 to 23 years.

Pasay police chief Col. Bernard Yang said of the nine, only parents of five have reported the incident to authorities.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano on Monday ordered local authorities to look into the alleged kidnapping incidents in the city.

“The Philippine National Police is on top of the situation, and I am confident that they have the resources and manpower to solve these crimes.” Calixto-Rubiano said.
