Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 3) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Saturday vowed to investigate reports of drivers charging fares at the EDSA busway, where rides are supposed to be free.

The LTFRB advised commuters to report such incidents to its traffic inspectors or to enforcers of the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic deployed in EDSA busway stations.

The free rides are available 24/7 for the whole month of December, as the government anticipates an increase in the number of passengers during the holidays.

On Dec. 1 alone, the LTFRB recorded 376,287 ridership at the EDSA busway.

The agency said it will improve its services following complaints from commuters on the long wait to ride the buses.
