Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 27) — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora was elected president of the Metro Manila Council on Saturday.

Zamora was also elected as co-chairperson of the National Capital Region Development Council.

He said he will focus on development, traffic, and peace and order around the capital region as the COVID-19 situation normalizes.

The mayor won his reelection bid in May. During his first term, San Juan City was recognized to be the first city in the country to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.

The Metro Manila Council is the policy-making body of the Metro Manila Development Authority.
