Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — With travel restrictions easing up, Filipinos who have been stuck at home or within their localities for the last two years are now eyeing revenge travel. This phenomenon that is bringing tourism back is set to be amplified by a new partnership between travel and leisure app Klook and digital wallet GCash.

Starting Oct. 3, GCash users can now access Klook’s nearly half a million experiences across 1,000 destinations. The synergy allows them to easily purchase these within a few taps through the GLife mini-app on GCash.

Klook’s integration within the GCash app allows customers to live the good life by making adulting easier and more enjoyable — with constant vouchers and deals exclusively available from their growing merchants.

To encourage more people to travel, users who spend at least ₱1,000 for all Klook products from Oct. 3 to Nov. 3, 2022 can avail of a ₱500 discount on GLife. Simply use the promo code KLOOKNOW500, exclusive to purchases done on GLife.

A multiverse of experiences

With the partnership, GCash users can now seamlessly book Klook’s diverse offerings for PLAY, STAY, and MOVE. These include attraction passes, hotels, transportation, and other travel needs like insurance and Wi-Fi connectivity. For attractions, you can buy a ride-all-you-can day pass at Sky Ranch in Tagaytay or go further with an admission ticket to Universal Studios Singapore. There’s also the upcoming Singapore Comic Con in December that you can book on the app!

You also do not need to open other apps to look for places to stay. You can book a hotel room or staycation unit with an easy-to-follow form, reliable customer support, and comparative packages to find a great deal for you. You can also set the price to your local currency to find out how much a hotel room in Hong Kong or Malaysia costs in Philippine pesos.

As for transport concerns, Klook also got you covered. You can purchase passes for Europe trains and inter-city buses, Japan’s railways, Singapore-Malaysia buses, ferries, private airport transfers, flights, and public transport. Imagine going to your home province for All Souls’ Day without any worry because you’ve already booked a bus trip using Klook. To those booking flights, you can also get to save more because you can compare the airfare of carriers on the app. An English-speaking Experience Specialist is also online 24/7 to provide customer support.

Klook also delegated a separate function for those who would like to charter cars wherever they are in countries covered by the app. Choose from Car charters, Car rentals, and motorcycle rentals.

All that traveling can get you hungry so Klook also offers a list of “Food & dining” to satisfy your tummies whether locally or in a foreign country. To those who don’t want to miss uploading their IG-worthy photos, travelers can utilize Klook’s “WiFi & SIM cards” function so you are always connected whether you’re in Malaysia, New Zealand, Turkey, or the United Kingdom.

More clamor for travel

Citing eased up restrictions for outbound travel to Singapore and Thailand, Klook said more Filipino travelers are clamoring for new experiences in these countries. For cross-border travel, Klook noted a 5,962 percent growth in the first half of 2022 versus 2021 figures, the majority of which are bookings to Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea.

Klook also observed a continuous upward trend in bookings locally. For domestic travel, Klook Philippines has already outperformed its pre-pandemic bookings as seen in the leap in bookings for local destinations like Boracay, Tagaytay, Subic, and Clark.

“We are optimistic that the growth we are seeing now will continue in the next coming months,” said Michelle Ho, General Manager of Klook Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. “This demand for travel among Filipinos drives Klook to continue pushing boundaries in terms of expanding the variety of experiences we can offer for both domestic and international travel.”

For its part, GCash is thrilled about its partnership with Klook. “We always look forward to expanding our partnerships with brands that provide amazing experiences and services to our customers,” said Macky Limgenco, GCash AVP for Enterprise Sales.

Both Klook and GCash hope this will simplify the discovery of travel experiences and the booking process for Filipino travelers.
