Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 15) — CNN Philippines will air the much-anticipated Miss World 2021 on Friday, December 17, at 8:30 a.m., Manila time.

A pre-coronation special is scheduled at 8 a.m. to be hosted by senior anchor Pinky Webb.

The pageant spectacle will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A total of 97 candidates will compete to succeed Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica as pageant fans look forward to Miss World's return after its 2020 run was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the record it is the oldest-running international beauty pageant.

The 28-year-old Tracy Maureen Perez, who comes from Cebu, hopes to bring home the Miss World crown for the second time since Megan Young won the title in 2013.

Perez is a favorite among international and local pageant bloggers, according to Miss World Philippines director Arnold Vegafria.

"Philippines is always in top of the mind in different pageants, especially now that I think we got most of the crown this year. And I'm very positive that she can make it because she has a total package," he said.

After securing a spot in the Top 30 after a "Head to Head" challenge, Perez was also selected as one of five outstanding advocacy projects in the "Beauty with a Purpose" fast track challenge.

Filipino beauty queens Evangeline Pascual, Ruffa Gutierrez, Carlene Aguilar, and Gwendoline Ruais, among others, previously represented the Philippines in the Miss World stage.

One of the most notable representatives of the Philippines in the pageant was Catriona Gray. She was named 3rd runner up in 2016. She was crowned Miss Universe two years later.
