Metro Manila (CNN Philippines Life, Nov. 16) — This week, let the "Hunger Games" prequel feed you big-screen thrills, listen to OPM classics played with the kulintang, bake sourdough pan de sal from scratch, shop a tight edit of art and collectibles, visit the longest-running organic food festival in Asia, dive into Baguio's rich creative culture at this cultural festival, see otherworldly oil paintings, and discuss the business of fashion with lauded local designers.

Let the "Hunger Games" prequel feed you big-screen thrills and Hunter Schafer in futuristic fashions

This week, celebrate the opening week of "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” a prequel set 64 years before the events in the first film. Through a young Coriolanus Snow, we watch as the people of Panem are compelled to watch and root against tributes fighting for survival — the beginnings of the competition we know today.

See Viola Davis’ Dr. Volumnia Gaul looking beat for the gods while delivering a beatdown, a younger and tamer Flickerman (Jason Schwartzman), and President Snow (Tom Blyth) in a spicy romance with Rachel Zegler’s Lucy Gray. May the odds of getting a good cinema seat be in your favor!

Catch "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" at SM Cinemas now. Reserve tickets at the SM website, app, or ticket booths.

Listen to OPM classics played with the kulintang

This Friday, Filipinas Heritage Library partners with HUMANFOLK for “Jeepney Jazz,” — a music gig headlined by jazz guitar legend Johnny Alegre and vocalist Abby Clutario as they crank out renditions of OPM classics with indigenous percussion and our native kulintang. For ₱1,400, enjoy the concert with pica-pica and refreshments from the open bar. Secure tickets here.

“Jeepney Jazz” will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Filipinas Heritage Library in the Ayala Museum G/F.
