Metro Manila (CNN Philippines Life, May 10) — This week, a lecture on Apolinario Mabini, webinars on the psychology of literature and “pakikipagkapwa,” a DIY exhibit, and talks and workshops in the last few days of Art Fair Philippines 2021.

Art Fair Philippines 2021

The first online edition of Art Fair Philippines is ongoing until May 15 through their website This week, expect more talks such as conversations with Cebuano artists, an introduction to the basic principles of art conservation, and how to become a crypto artist.

For ArtFairPH/OpenStudios, some of this week’s offerings include Relief Printmaking with Mars Bugaoan; Online Mug-Making Workshop with Tahanan Pottery Studio; Playing with Water(color) Demo by Claude Tayag; and Bookmaking with Carina Santos.

Apolinario Mabini: From Zero to Hero

This lecture by Juan Paolo M. Calamlam will show Apolinario Mabini’s rise from his underprivileged beginnings to National Hero.

This is hosted by the NHCP Museo ni Apolinario Mabini, Tanauan through Facebook live on Thursday, May 13 at 2 p.m.

“Extend pa po ba or Open Time”

The student collective Tara, Pasok na is hosting “Extend pa ba or Open Time,” an interactive webinar on the psychology of “pakikipagkapwa at panitikan sa panahon ng pandemya.”

Participate in two webinars about the subject by Jomar Adaya, Chief of Center for Philippine Studies, Polytechnic University of the Philippines; and Gerome Nicolas Dela Peña, writer and teacher, Our Lady of Fatima University.

“do it (MCAD Manila)”

The Museum of Contemporary Art Manila is launching “do it (MCAD Manila)” in collaboration with the Independent Curators International (ICI) New York. This flexible and open-ended exhibition has been in more than 50 institutions and is the world’s longest running curatorial project.

The exhibition is conceived and curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist. For the Manila edition, MCAD selected local artists and communities to respond to the exhibition prompts. Artists featured include MM Yu, Madge Reyes, Lourd de Veyra, Manix Abrera, Manny Montelibano, and Mark Salvatus. “do it” will be exhibited both online and at the MCAD itself. The public is invited to participate by responding to the instructions given by the artists.
