Metro Manila (CNN Philippines Life, April 5) — The cases of COVID-19 are still on an upward trend, hence one more week of ECQ in Metro Manila. Here are five events to look out for this week so we won’t feel so cooped up inside our homes.

“Rising Gardens and Ecological Solid Waste Management Solution”

They say the earth is healing, so why not do your little part and take part in a webinar that looks for solutions to solving our waste problems at home?

The webinar, on Saturday, Apr. 10 (2 p.m.), is hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University in partnership with Bokashi Pinoy. Register here.

"Local Responses to Spanish Colonization: The Case of Andres Malong and Andres Lopez" Special Webinar

On Tuesday, Apr. 6, at 10 a.m., Professor Nicholas Sy of the U.P. Diliman will give a special webinar on the history of Andres Malong and Andres Lopez, two heroes of Pangasinan who fought against Spanish Colonization.

“Zack Snyder's Justice League: Justice Is Gray” on HBO GO

If you think four hours of the Snyder Cut isn’t enough, then the black and white version of Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” is for you. The black and white cut is now streaming on HBO GO and it’s definitely a way to kill time while we’re still under ECQ. Experience the film, which continues the tradition set by recent superhero films which exist in black and white versions, such as “Logan,” in all its bleak 4:3 glory.

Download HBO GO on the App Store/Google Play. Subscription required.

In case you want to catch up (and in a part of the country where you can still run safely and socially distanced), Race4Water is a virtual fundraiser by Waves For Water Philippines in collaboration with Takbo.Ph. Ongoing until April 15, 2021, the virtual fundraiser is a tribute to World Water Day, which addresses the global water crisis exacerbated by the pandemic.

Runners and fitness enthusiasts can pledge miles, which will be matched in equal units of clean water. The virtual event is designed to ensure social distancing rules are observed to prioritize the safety of both participants and beneficiaries alike.

Sign up at and commit to a goal (you can either run or bike). Check the list of the recommended apps here to track your progress.

Watch the beloved ‘90s romantic film starring Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin, now in a digitally restored version. ABS-CBN Film Restoration will premiere the film on KTX on Thursday, April 8, 7:30 pm. Get tickets here.
