Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 25) — Actress-singer Vina Morales said Miss Saigon actress Lea Salonga has been a big help to her Broadway debut preparations in the controversial musical, "Here Lies Love."

"She was so kind in guiding me all the way through the process until I got accepted," Morales told CNN Philippines' The Final Word on Thursday.

Morales also shared that she auditioned for the national theater play of the musical more than 10 years ago.

The actress is set to play the role of Doña Aurora Aquino in the all-Filipino musical running from Sept. 22 to Oct. 22. She will replace Salonga, a Tony-winning Filipino actress, who will bow out on Aug. 19.

Morales said performing on Broadway is a "dream come true."

"Since I'm the new addition to the family, I'm very excited but at the same time I'm kind of pressured with the time limit that I have for the rehearsals," she added.

"Here Lies Love" by award-winning musicians David Byrne and Norman Quentin Cook is a groundbreaking musical about former First Lady Imelda Marcos' rise to power and subsequent fall after the EDSA People Power Revolution.
