Bb. Pilipinas 2023 crowns PH bets for Miss International, Miss Globe
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 29) — The Binibining Pilipinas 2023 coronation on Sunday night brought forth two queens who will represent the country on the global stage.
Of the 40 women who competed for two coveted titles, Anna Valencia Lakrini of Bataan was hailed as this year’s Binibining Pilipinas Globe, and Palaweña queen Angelica Lopez was crowned as the new Binibining Pilipinas International.
Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022 Chelsea Fernandez and Binibining Pilipinas International 2022 Nicole Borromeo handed over their thrones to their successors during the event at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
While Borromeo will represent the Philippines at the Miss International 2023 competition in Japan this October, Lopez is set to compete in the next year's edition of the global pageant.
First runner-up Katrina Anne Johnson of Davao del Sur and second runner-up Atasha Reign Parani of Cavite round out the top four of the 59th edition of the national competition.
Lakrini was also named Best in Swimsuit and Jag Denim Queen, while Trisha Martinez of Laguna won Best in Evening Gown, Binibining Ever Bilena, and Binibining Philippine Airlines.
Jeanne Bilasano of Albay won Best in National Costume. The Face of Binibini is Julia Mendoza of Roxas City, Binibining Friendship is Mary Chiles Balana of Hermosa, Bataan, and Candy Vollinger of Catandues is Binibining Talent.
Loraine Jara of Bulacan was hailed as Binibining Bingo Plus, Sharmaine Magdasoc from Ortigas, Pasig is Manila Bulletin Readers' Choice, and April Barro of Cagayan de Oro emerged as Binibining Pizza Hut.
Award-winning actors Dolly de Leon and Piolo Pascual, Olympian weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, Tatler Philippines editor-in-chief Anton San Diego, social media personality Small Laude, SB19 member Josh Cullen, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse president Peter Zwiener, presidential son Vincent Marcos, and Miss International 2022 Jasmin Salberg comprised the panel of judges.
The event was hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, and Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves.
Singer Darren Espanto kicked off the coronation night with his energetic rendition of the pageant’s theme song, while Vice Ganda performed for the first time her latest single “Rampa,” which she wrote for Binibining Pilipinas.
