Dennis Trillo to star in international series about first Filipino serial killer
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 26) — Actor Dennis Trillo is set to play the first documented Filipino serial killer Severino Mallari in the upcoming international series "Severino."
CreaZion Studios, the company who will produce the series, confirmed the report from Variety magazine on Thursday .
"Announced in Cannes: DENNIS TRILLO TO STAR IN INTERNATIONAL SERIES, SEVERINO!" the production company said in a Facebook post.
"The second project featured in the article is #Severino, a series in development set for international distribution. The series is based on the true story of a priest named Severino Mallari, the first documented serial killer in the Philippines."
CreaZion Studios is behind award-winning films and television series, including "1st ko si 3rd", "Iska" and "Patay Na Si Hesus." It will collaborate with the production and financing company Fire and Ice Productions.
"Our goal is to be part of the wide-scale production of elevated Asian projects," said CreaZion Chief Creative Officer Real Florido in an interview with Variety.
"With 'Severino' underway, one of the biggest series in the region, we are excited to continue diversifying and expanding our market potential by partnering with outward-looking producers and projects," Florido also said.
Trillo has starred before in an international film project with the crime thriller "On the Job: The Missing 8" directed by Erik Matti in 2021.
