Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 6) — Rising actress Belle Mariano is the first Filipino to win an award at the Seoul International Drama Awards.

The 20-year-old actress is one of the five recipients of the Outstanding Asian Star Prize, besting 175 other actors in the region.

The other awardees are China’s Wallace Chung, Japan’s Yusei Yagi, Taiwan’s Alice Ko, and Thailand’s Krit Amnuaydechkorn.

The winners were selected via online voting at the Idol Champ app from August 1-31. The awarding ceremony will be held on Sept. 22.

Rise Artists Studio, Mariano’s talent management, has commended the actress.

“Congrats Belle for winning the 'OUTSTANDING ASIAN STAR' in the Seoul International Drama Awards. Rise Fam is very proud of you!” the management said.

Mariano rose to fame after her portrayal of Maxpein Del Valle Luna in “He's Into Her” and the young Gabbie Salazar in “Four Sisters Before the Wedding.”

Filipino actors Gabby Concepcion, Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, and Alden Richards previously bagged the Asian Star Prize in the Korean-based award-giving body.

The Seoul International Drama Awards is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Seoul Metropolitan Government; and television networks KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, and CBS.
