Erik Matti's 'On The Job' miniseries earns Emmy nomination
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) — Filipino miniseries "On The Job" has been nominated for best TV movie or miniseries at the International Emmy Award 2022.
The list of nominees was released on Sept. 29.
"On The Job" is a six-part miniseries on HBO Asia created by Erik Matti and his wife Michiko Yamamoto. It is based on the critically acclaimed 2013 movie of the same title, and its sequel "The Missing 8."
The series stars Joel Torre, John Arcilla, Piolo Pascual, Dennis Trillo, Gerald Anderson, Joey Marquez, and Christopher De Leon.
According to HBO, the series "centers around crime syndicates that temporarily release contracted prison inmates to carry out political assassinations for those in power, except that the crime syndicates are run by politicians."
Matti expressed gratitude for his latest career milestone.
"In the age of streaming, the competition is stiff. Who would have thought that a limited series like #OnTheJob from a small country in the Pacific would be recognized alongside some big titles from the UK, Chile and France?" the filmmaker said on Instagram.
The awarding ceremony will take place in New York City on Nov. 21.
