'My miracle:' Iza Calzado bares first pregnancy at 40

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 12) — If life really does begin at 40, then actress Iza Calzado is about to start hers with an unexpected pregnancy.

On her 40th birthday on Friday, the award-winning actress revealed that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Ben Wintle, whom she wed in 2018.

She shared photos of her vacation in Spain flaunting her baby bump, looking absolutely glowing.

Calzado reflected on the new chapter of her life, which also coincides with her 20th year in the entertainment industry.

"They were right. Life does begin at 40," she wrote. "Simply put, your life begins as your mother turns forty. To know that life is growing inside me is great miracle. You are my miracle. You are my guiding light."

She added, "Thank You, Lord, for the most beautiful birthday gift. Our ABUNDANCE."

Calzado is known for her acting prowess in films like "Eternity," "Bliss," "Starting Over Again," and "Sigaw," and TV shows such as "Encantadia," "Impostora" and "Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin."

She is also part of the newest TV adaptation of the superhero series "Darna," playing the first Darna, who will pass on the superpower to her daughter Narda (Jane deLeon).

The Mars Ravelo fantasy-action series will start airing on Aug. 15, replacing the long-running action series "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano."
