Apo Hiking Society's Danny Javier dies at 75
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 31) — Online tributes and messages are pouring in for Danny Javier, a third of the iconic OPM group Apo Hiking Society, after news of his death broke on Monday.
He was 75 years old.
Javier's sister-in-in law, Leyte 2nd District Rep. Lolita Javier confirmed the news in a post on Facebook. Included in her post was a photo of Javier with her and his brother, Leyte Vice Governor Leonardo "Sandy" Javier Jr.
In a message to CNN Philippines, Jim Paredes said he was "shattered" at Javier's passing.
Javier, Paredes, and Boboy Garrovillo made up the singing group, which started performing in 1969.
In a post on Facebook, Garrovillo paid tribute to his "old faithful friend."
Among the many celebrities who posted tributes was Lea Salonga, who thanked the OPM legend via Facebook.
OPM group The Company also expressed their condolences, sharing photos of members posing with Javier, adding that APO built OPM "to what it is now."
Javier's family has yet to issue an official statement.
